Louis van Gaal has dismissed Manchester United's tough looking run of fixtures between now and the end of the season, pointing to what was said at the start of the season.

Manchester United have a run of difficult games on the horizon, with visits from Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal, along with trips to Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton all to come before they wrap up their Premier League campaign away at Hull City on 24th May.

With the race to finish in the top four set to go to the wire, matches against direct rivals could make or break Manchester United's hopes of a return to the Champions League.

But Van Gaal is determined not to be worried by his side's upcoming fixtures and believes the situation is not too different to that which confronted the Red Devils at the start of the campaign.

"You said that before the games at the beginning of the season, when we were 13th – do you remember that?", he told a press conference, when asked about the tough run-in.

"And in spite of all the games we had in front of us, we were third.

"It was 22nd November after the game against Chelsea", the Dutchman added.

Next up for the Red Devils is a trip to face Newcastle United this evening in a Premier League clash, before attention switches to the FA Cup, where Arsenal provide the opposition at Old Trafford on Monday night for a quarter-final tie.

At present Manchester United sit fourth in the Premier League, just off their stated pre-season aim of finishing in the top three.
