Celtic winger Gary Mackay-Steven believes that his side's win over Aberdeen last weekend is a big step towards the league title and insists that he is relishing playing for a club of the Bhoys’ stature.

Mackay-Steven, along with his Dundee United team-mate Stuart Armstrong, arrived at Celtic Park in the January transfer window and has taken to his new team like a duck to water; having scored on his Celtic debut against Patrick Thistle, he put the Bhoys 3-0 ahead with a strike in the 69th minute against the Dons in a 4-0 win.

Ronny Deila’s side have continued their stupendous league form after their midweek Europa League exit at the hands of Inter Milan. Celtic’s win over Aberdeen is their eighth consecutive league win, which has seen them go six points clear in the table, having played a game fewer than their closest rivals.

The 24-year-old acknowledged that the Celts’ win over Aberdeen is a big step in his team’s quest for a fourth successive league title.

“It was obviously a big step in the title race, but there are still so many games to go that we have to just take it one at a time”, Mackay-Steven told Celtic View.

He added that playing for a team of the Hoops' stature is a new experience for him and he is relishing every bit of it.

“There’s a winning mentality here and anything else is no good so that’s been instilled in me and Stuart Armstrong since we came here and that winning mentality around the dressing room is great to be part of.

“We want to experience that.”

Celtic will next play St Johnstone tonight where a win would see Deila’s side edge closer to the league title.
