Former Spanish international midfielder Xavi is all set to leave Barcelona this summer for MLS side New York City FC.

A number of Qatari clubs and MLS sides were interested in signing Xavi last summer, but the veteran midfielder decided against leaving Barcelona and vowed to see out the season in Spain.

However, New York City FC sporting director Claudio Reyna said that the midfielder is still in their sights and they have been trying to convince him to move to the United States.

According to Cadena Ser, Xavi has given his tentative approval to New York City’s offer and is all set to move to the MLS this summer after finishing the season with Barcelona.

It has been claimed that a meeting was held recently between Xavi, his father, his agent and an official from Manchester City to discuss the terms of the agreement. The English champions part own the MLS franchise along with the iconic baseball team New York Yankees and are overseeing football operations of the newly formed side.
