Saint-Etienne coach Christophe Galtier has appeared to rule himself out of taking over at Newcastle United by indicating a potential stay with Les Verts.

Galtier has been mooted as a contender to take over at St. James' Park in the summer, with current boss John Carver expected to stand aside for a more experienced hand.

But the French tactician appears set to stay with Saint-Etienne into the 2015/16 campaign.

Speaking after Saint-Etienne's 2-0 Ligue 1 win over Lorient earlier today, Galtier was asked about his future and potentially remaining with Les Verts.

"Staying at Saint-Etienne? That is a big possibility", he replied to beIN Sport.
