Manchester United scouts were present to run the rule over Liverpool target and Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto in the Yellow Submarine's 4-1 home win over Celta Vigo yesterday.

The striker, who has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, has come onto the radar of some top European clubs with his performances for Villarreal and the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid have been keeping tabs on his progress.

His agent recently admitted that his client might leave Villarreal in the summer and a release clause of around the €10m mark has further added to Vietto's attractiveness for potential suitors.

Another club in the form of Manchester United have joined the race for the young forward and according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato their scouts watched Vietto in action in Villarreal’s match against Celta Vigo yesterday.

And they might have left El Madrigal with a smile on their faces as Vietto again played an instrumental role as a second half substitute in Villarreal’s win with a goal in the 73rd minute.

With Robin van Persie struggling to regain his old form and Radamel Falcao facing an uncertain future at the club, Manchester United are expected to be in the market for a striker in the summer.

And with Vietto consistently delivering impressive performances, it remains to be seen whether Louis van Gaal makes a dash for him at the end of the season to fill a potential striking void.
