Adryan has revealed he is at a loss to know why he has slipped so far out of the first team picture at Leeds United.

The Brazilian playmaker arrived on loan for the season last summer, landing at Elland Road from Flamengo via Cagliari, after club owner Massimo Cellino worked overtime to secure his signature.

With Adryan came much hype and after an administrative issue was resolved, he was thrown into first team action, featuring regularly and showing glimpses of magic which Championship defenders could not handle.

Since the turn of the year he has fallen out of favour under head coach Neil Redfearn, something which has left him baffled, especially as the boss has praised him for his hard work in training.

Adryan told LUTV: "I want to be in the first team, but if I'm not in the squad I have to play. For myself that's important.

"If I'm not in the first team then always I want to play in the Under-21s, so I have to keep going and wait for my chance.

"Really [I’m doing everything]. I'm training hard. It's what Redders said to me, that I've been training hard and I've been doing that for a long time", the Brazilian continued.

"[There are] not many chances, but I have to keep going. I say that to myself.

"I started very good. I played 12 games in a row, so it was good when I started.

"But I don't know what's happened…just not in the squad, sometimes on the bench.

"Really, I understand many things about English football, international football, but my dream is to play, I have to play, I want to play as well. I will wait for my chance."

Adryan featured for Leeds Under-21s earlier today, something which hints he is unlikely to be involved against Nottingham Forest at Elland Road tomorrow.

It remains to be seen whether Redfearn will recommend Leeds moving to make Adryan's loan move permanent at the end of the season.
