Ronny Deila feels Dundee United found it hard to live with his Celtic side this evening, after the Bhoys thrashed the Terrors 4-0 to advance to the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Celtic took the lead with just 17 minutes on the clock when Anthony Stokes delivered a peach of a ball from a free kick, which Jason Denayer got on the end of to head over Dundee United goalkeeper Radoslaw Czerniak.

The Bhoys took full control of the game, dominating possession and not allowing Dundee United a sniff of getting back into the game before half time.

Dundee United grew into the match after the break however as Celtic's tempo dropped. But the Bhoys hit the visitors with a sucker punch when Leigh Griffiths volleyed the ball into the back of the net in the 57th minute.

A third then arrived in the 79th minute, Kris Commons with a neat clip after being played in by John Guidetti, killing off any Dundee United hopes.

Further incident was to arrive when Stokes was sent off (87th minute) for lashing out, while then Ryan McGowan was shown a red for the visitors after a bad challenge on Liam Henderson.

And Virgil van Dijk then helped the ball home in the 89th minute to make it 4-0 for the hosts.

Deila feels that Dundee United could not match his team, telling BBC Scotland: "It was a great performance and an important victory. We showed that we have a tempo that is very hard to cope with."

However, the Celtic boss is now keen to move on and refocus on league matters.

"The league is the most important thing and we want another three points on Saturday."
