Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has revealed that Thierry Henry offered his congratulations when the Ligue 1 side knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League recently.

Leonardo Jardim's men won the first leg of their round of 16 tie 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium before losing the second leg 2-0 at home. They did however reach the quarter-final on the away goals rule.

Arsenal legend Henry took in both legs of the tie and Kondogbia has revealed that the former striker, who also counts Monaco amongst his ex-clubs, was quick to offer his congratulations.

He told Monaco TV: "Thierry Henry congratulated us after our victory over Arsenal.

"It's nice to hear from such a player", Kondogbia added.

The midfielder is now looking forward to Monaco's quarter-final tie against Juventus, though accepts beating the Bianconeri over two legs will be a tough task for the principality side.

"Facing Juventus is not a 50-50 tie.

"It will be very difficult."

Monaco currently sit fourth in Ligue 1 and are four points off a top three Champions League spot. They won 3-1 at the weekend, beating Reims to keep the pressure on third placed Marseille.
