Amid talk of his imminent departure from Real Madrid in the summer, midfielder Sami Khedira has said that it would be hard for him to leave the club.

Khedira has been heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu with Premier League giants Arsenal and German Bundesliga side Schalke being the teams reportedly interested in the midfielder.

The 2014 World Cup winner joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2010 and in the ensuing five years he has gone on to win La Liga, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.

Khedira’s existing contract with the reigning European champions expires at the end of the current season and the German has featured in only 11 league matches this term under Carlo Ancelotti. Of the 11 appearances, he has only started three times.

The 27-year-old has been troubled by a number of injuries since he suffered a cruciate ligament damage towards the end of 2013, and with the arrival of Lucas Silva in the winter transfer window, Khedira appears to be slipping further down in the pecking order.
