Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti's representatives are in talks with Manchester City over their client potentially taking over the reins of the club in the summer, according to Sky Italia.

Ancelotti has been at the helm of Real Madrid since the 2013/14 season, and in his inaugural season at the Santiago Bernabeu, he won Los Blancos their much coveted tenth Champions League. The Italian also won the Copa del Rey last term.

The three-time Champions League winning manager has been on the receiving end of the Real Madrid fans’ ire following a run of poor results since the turn of the year, leading to speculation regarding his future at the club.

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly in search of a replacement for Manuel Pellegrini as it becomes increasingly likely that the Citizens will finish the season empty handed.

Manchester City are eyeing Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola to take over from the Chilean, but the Catalan, whose existing contract expires in the summer of 2016, is unlikely to leave Bavaria this summer.

In the prevailing circumstances, the Citizens have focused their attentions on securing the services of Ancelotti, who is considering the option.

Having won the Premier League and FA Cup double in the 2009/10 season with Chelsea during his two-year stint at the club from 2009 until 2011, the Italian is no stranger to English football.

If Real Madrid decide to dispense with the services of Ancelotti, he may be at the Etihad Stadium next season.
