Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic’s agent has said that his client will stay at Inter Milan beyond the summer, while revealing the Red Devils wanted to keep the centre-back last year.

The veteran defender has found it hard to settle down in Italy and didn’t immediately walk into Roberto Mancini’s side after the former Manchester City boss took charge of Inter in the middle of the season.

Though he is getting more opportunities, the 33-year-old is still struggling for his place in the side and is yet to nail down a spot in Mancini’s starting eleven.

There has been speculation that Vidic might look to leave Italy in the summer and rejoin Manchester United, but his agent, Silvano Martina, has poured cold water on such rumours.

“Will he stay at Inter? I think he should do, yes, because he has another two years on his contract”, Martina told Gazzetta TV.

The Serbian’s agent also revealed that Vidic joined Inter despite Manchester United’s apparent willingness to offer him a new contract at Old Trafford.

“In fact, I want to reveal something”, the agent continued.

“Last year he made a specific choice to come to Milan, seeing as Manchester United wanted to keep him and kept calling up to December.”

Vidic won five Premier League titles and a Champions League crown, amongst various other honours, at Manchester United before departing for Inter at the end of last season.
