Brazilian defender Thiago Silva is hopeful of managing his first international appearance for the national team since last summer, when his side take on France in a friendly on Thursday.

It will be a special occasion for the skipper as the match will be played at his "home" in Paris, where he plays at club level with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Stade de France, the venue for the friendly, is in fact just a few kilometres away from his club's ground, the Parc des Princes, a prospect that excites the 30-year-old.

Silva also hopes that his PSG fans will be present in the stands during the match and will be cheering for him while he takes to the field for his country.

"I would be very happy if I have the chance to be a starter", Silva was quoted as saying by ITV.

"I am going to do my best to secure my place in the team.

"I would be playing at my home [Paris]. I think that during the match the PSG fans are going to shout my name."

Silva also took time to speak about their opponents, Les Bleus, who he feels are always a force to reckon with and will have the added advantage of playing at home on Thursday.

"France are a side that have grown very much. They played very well at the World Cup – they are a force and have a player who makes the difference, which is Karim Benzema.

"I think that we are two squads with the same strengths – we are evenly matched.

"They are going to have the advantage of playing at home, with a full stadium behind them.

"But on the pitch it will be eleven players and I am sure Dunga will field a strong team in order that we win."
