Chelsea defender Filipe Luis has cooled talk of possible return to Atletico Madrid this summer, saying that he is happy at Stamford Bridge.

Luis joined Jose Mourinho’s side at the start of the current season from reigning Spanish champions Atletico Madrid.

The Brazil international played a stellar role last season helping Diego Simeone’s side win La Liga and make it to the final of the Champions League, which they ultimately lost to Real Madrid.

His assured displays in his left-back position earned him a move to Chelsea, but intense competition for places in Mourinho’s team has seen Luis make only 12 league appearances, of which only seven have come as a starter.

The 29-year-old’s lack of first team action has seen him linked with a move back to Atletico Madrid in the summer, but the defender, currently on international duty, has denied a possible move to Spain at the end of this season.

“I'm just focused on Chelsea, on working hard and giving my best in order to end the season with another important and beautiful trophy”, he was quoted as saying by Marca.

“Of course, everything can change in football, but I'm happy and have a three-year contract at Chelsea that I'd like to see out”, he concluded.

Chelsea will resume their Premier League campaign against Stoke City on 4th April post the ongoing international break.
