Inter Milan are planning to use the funds that they would receive by selling Mateo Kovacic to get their hands on Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, it has been claimed.

Roberto Mancini is desperate to sign the Ivorian midfielder this summer and has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to cobble together an offer for the 31-year-old.

It emerged earlier this week that Inter are ready to sell highly-rated Croatian international Kovacic at the end of the season to raise funds and it has been speculated that Liverpool are prepared to meet their asking price of €30m.

Though the 20-year-old’s agent has sought to play down the rumours, speculation still persists that Inter are already planning for life after Kovacic.

According to Tuttosport, Inter are ready to use the proceeds from Kovacic’s possible sale at the end of the season to finance their move for Manchester City’s Toure.

The Nerazzurri are aware that they are not in a position to fund the deal despite Mancini’s insistence, but if Kovacic leaves the club then they would have the required financial capacity to take Toure to the San Siro this summer.

Other than Liverpool, Manchester United are also keeping a close eye on developments in Milan regarding the Croatian midfielder and are believed to be ready to meet Inter’s asking price for him too.
