Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has said that he is focused on helping the Gunners win trophies this season, saying that it is important to win as a team.

Ozil landed at the Emirates Stadium at the start of the 2012/13 season and played an important part in helping the Gunners win the FA Cup last year; the prestigious domestic cup triumph ended Arsenal’s nine-year wait for a trophy.

In an injury marred current season – Ozil spent three months on the sidelines after rupturing his knee ligament – the German has made 14 Premier League appearances thus far; his three goals and six assists have helped Arsene Wenger’s side climb to third in the table as they appear on course to continue their presence in the Champions League.

Wenger’s men have also made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they have been drawn to play Reading when the competition resumes next month, and the 2014 World Cup winner insists that he takes satisfaction from winning trophies with his team rather than racking up individual accolades.

“The most important thing is that we win games as a team”, he told Arsenal Player.

“Of course it’s nice if I can give an assist or score a goal, but really, what’s most important is that we are successful as a team.

“We’re rightfully near the top of the table and in the semi-finals of the FA Cup again.

“I think we can win trophies again this year, and if we do that, we will be satisfied.”
