Atletico Madrid have abandoned their "no sale" stance on centre-back Miranda in anticipation of Manchester United rekindling their interest in the Brazilian in the summer transfer window.

Louis van Gaal's side came calling for Miranda last summer, but Atletico Madrid informed the Red Devils that they would have to meet the defender's buy-out clause of €30m to take him from the Vicente Calderon.

Miranda stayed put at the club, but now Atletico Madrid's stance on the 30-year-old has softened, according to Spanish daily AS.

Indeed, in anticipation of Manchester United returning for Miranda, Diego Simeone's men are ready to consider selling the centre-back for the right price.

Atletico Madrid have been delighted with the development of Jose María Gimenez this season and no longer believe a Miranda departure to be unthinkable.

The defender turns 31 years old in September and a substantial offer, it is thought, would be likely to meet with approval at the Vicente Calderon.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United do return for Miranda, with Borussia Dortmund's Mat Hummels thought to be their first choice centre-back target for the summer.
