Celtic forward Leigh Griffiths is delighted with the intense competition for places in the Hoops’ line-up especially in the attacking department of the team.

Ronny Deila has been blessed with a plethora of options in his attacking midfield department with Stefan Johansen, Anthony Stokes, James Forrest, Kris Commons, Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven vying for the three spots behind the striker in the Norwegian’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation.

Armstrong and Mackay-Steven were added to the Celtic squad on transfer deadline day in the winter window earlier this year, thereby giving more options to Deila in his attacking department.

And Griffiths, who joined the Bhoys from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January last year, is relishing the opportunities that the side’s prolific midfielders create for the team’s centre forwards.

“At the start of the season, Kris, Stefan and Stokesy were playing there, creating chances and scoring goals, but since then we have added Stu and Gaz and they do that as well, so we have lot of creative players and hopefully they can continue doing that”, Griffiths told Celtic View.

“Whoever isn’t playing will be disappointed, but we have many good strikers and midfielders and everyone on the pitch knows they have to put in a great performance to keep that jersey.”

Celtic have already won their first trophy this season with their League Cup win earlier this month and have made it to the semi-finals of the Scottish FA Cup.

And having taken a commanding five-point lead at the top of the Premiership table they appear on course to win their fourth title in a row.
