The English trio of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are eyeing a summer deal for Hellas Verona midfielder Jacopo Sala.

Schooled at Atalanta’s youth academy, the Italian midfielder has already played in England for Chelsea’s Under-18 side and joined Hellas Verona from Hamburg in 2013.

The 23-year-old initially found it hard to settle in Italy, but by the end of his first season he had established himself as a crucial member of Andrea Mandorlini’s side at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

However, Sala has missed the majority of the current campaign with injury issues and has made only eight league appearances for the club. But in the limited time he has spent on the pitch, he has managed to catch the eye of a number of clubs.

His ability to play as a right-wing-back has caught the eye of Brendan Rodgers, who wants to sign versatile players in the summer, and according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, the Liverpool boss is keen to take the former Italian Under-21 international to Anfield.

West Ham and Tottenham have also been impressed with Sala’s showing and are ready to provide stiff competition to Liverpool for his signature at the end of the season.

Despite his injury worries, the 23-year-old is a wanted man and with his contract expiring next summer, Hellas Verona are under pressure to keep hold of the midfielder beyond the end of this campaign.
