Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has expressed his happiness about the strong defence his team have on offer this season.

The Lilywhites failed to register a single goal as they were held to a goalless draw by relegation battlers Burnley at Turf Moor yesterday.

Mauricio Pochettino fielded a different defensive line up for this match with Vlad Chiriches teaming up with Dier in the absence of Jan Vertonghen, who was unwell.

Later Ben Davies teamed up with Dier as Chiriches moved to right-back to replace the injured Kyle Walker.

And with the changes being successful as the London-based side managed a clean sheet for the match, Dier insists that his team's defence is now in safe hands, with tremendous strength in depth at the back.

"We’re pleased to keep a clean sheet as we’ve not had one for a while", the 21-year-old told his club's official site.

“We made some changes at the back but in our squad, whoever comes in, you know you are in safe hands.

“Vlad came in at centre-back and did well, Ben played well – it’s not even his position but he performed brilliantly.

The youngster also took time to speak about the need to keep going until the end of the season, as they prepare for the final Premier League push.

“We’ve got to keep going now up until the end of the season. It’s the final push, we’ve nothing to lose and we have to give it everything in every game.”

The Lilywhites will host Aston Villa at White Hart Lane next Saturday.
