Chelsea scouts watched Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan, who has been previously linked with Manchester United and Liverpool, in action against Academica on Saturday.

The Argentine has been linked with a number of top clubs over the years but he has continued to stay put with the Portuguese giants.

However, it is believed the 27-year-old is finally ready to move away from the Estadio da Luz this summer after spending five successful seasons at Benfica.

Manchester United have been heavily tipped to be interested in the player’s services over the last few seasons and Liverpool are also believed to be keeping an eye on potentially signing him.

However, another English giant in the form of Chelsea have now joined the Gaitan admiration club and sent scouts to watch him in action.
