Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar admits that he wants to win the FA Cup this season, but has insisted that securing Premier League safety remains an important goal for the club.

It has been close to six decades since the last time the Villa fans enjoyed the taste of winning the FA Cup, but with a semi-final looming this weekend, they can again hope for the trophy to make its way to their cabinet this season.

The Villans have been pitted against a top team in the form of Liverpool in the last four, but with Tim Sherwood’s men in good form, the players are approaching the semi-final this Sunday with a spring in their stride.

Vlaar admits that the FA Cup has a lot of respect in England and there is also lot of chatter in and around the club about their semi-final appearance.

“The FA Cup obviously is a big competition and has a lot of respect here”, the defender told Soccer Vision.
