Lazio are keen to knock back any summer offers for their influential midfielder Lucas Biglia, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United recently.

The Argentine defensive midfielder is one of the first names on Stefano Pioli’s team-sheet at the Stadio Olimpico and the Lazio boss is naturally reluctant to lose the player.

Biglia has been linked with a move away from Lazio in the past but it emerged last week Manchester United scouts had seen the player in action recently, sparking rumours that Louis van Gaal is keen to add the Argentine’s tenaciousness to his squad this summer.

With interest in the 29-year-old increasing, Lazio are keen to protect his future at the club and according to Tuttosport, they are set to resist any move for the player at the end of the season.

The club hierarchy are aware that Biglia is a crucial member of their squad and with Lazio in line to qualify for the Champions League next season, they want his experience in Europe’s elite competition.

However, if Manchester United indeed decide to flex their financial muscle for Biglia, it remains to be seen whether the club or the player could continue to resist the temptation.
