Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn has clearly hinted that if he moves on from Elland Road in the summer he will be looking for a managerial position.

Redfearn was handed the job of head coach on a permanent basis earlier this season, with his role being to coach and prepare the players, as well as pick the team. The former midfielder has no say on which players are signed, that being the domain of the club's owner and sporting director, and he can only make recommendations.

Redfearn's future is unclear at present with the club not having told him whether he will be retained into next season.

He was linked with the Barnsley job when it was vacant earlier this season, the League One club being a side he played for during his playing career.

Redfearn was asked at a press conference today whether, if he leaves Leeds in the summer, he would be looking for a head coach role or a manager role. And he clearly hinted he wants to be a manager and as a result in charge of player recruitment.

"I think recruitment is massive and I think recruitment is the real most important thing and I think maybe there lies your answer", Redfearn smiled.

The former midfielder led Leeds academy set-up before being promoted to take charge of the senior side.

Leeds have to inform Redfearn whether they wish to activate a one-year contract extension contained in his current deal before the Whites play Rotherham in their last game of the season.
