Celtic boss Ronny Deila has said that he will consider playing Leigh Griffiths and John Guidetti together up front in their Scottish Cup semi-final tie against Inverness Caledonian Thistle this weekend.

Guidetti started in Celtic’s 4-1 win over Kilmarnock earlier this week as a lone centre-forward and he was joined by Griffiths around the hour mark to form a deadly attack which resulted in the substitute scoring a quickfire hat-trick to put the match beyond Killie’s reach.

Deila expressed his delight with the way his forwards worked in tandem and created goalscoring chances to trouble Kilmarnock and there is a possibilty of him starting the striking duo this weekend.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, the Norwegian revealed that he is considering the option of playing the duo against the Jags, but didn’t reveal if he will start with them on Sunday.

“If we feel it is right, we will do it.

“They played well together in the last game.”

The 39-year-old is enthused by the development of Griffiths under his tutelage, saying that the Scotland international has made considerable progress.

“He has improved in the way I want things. He works much harder defensively, his fitness, he is more of a 24-hour athlete.”

A win for Celtic this weekend would take them one step closer to adding the Scottish Cup to their trophy collection.
