On loan AC Milan midfielder Marco van Ginkel’s agent has stressed that playing for Chelsea remains his client’s main goal.

The Dutchman joined the Rossoneri from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal last summer. Van Ginkel struggled with injuries and until recently failed to make regular appearances for Filippo Inzaghi’s side.

Though the midfielder has started the last four league games, it is still unclear whether the club and the player want to extend their association beyond the end of the season.

Karel Jansen, Van Ginkel’s agent, said that there is still a possibility that Van Ginkel will stay at the San Siro beyond the summer but stressed that will depend on a lot of variables.

He also added that he needs to discuss his client’s future with Chelsea as playing for Jose Mourinho’s men remains the goal for the Dutchman.

However, he insisted that unlike last summer, when Van Ginkel joined AC Milan towards the fag end of the window, the Dutchman’s future will be sorted out as soon as possible.

“Will he stay in Milan? Well, everything is possible”, Jansen told Voetbal Primeur.

“It is still too early and we need to see what would happen in case there is a change in ownership at the club.

“We also have to talk with Chelsea and see what they want to do with Marco as playing for them is still the goal.

“We hope to finalise everything well before the end of the transfer window.”
