Liverpool custodian Simon Mignolet has credited his side's consistent solidity in defence for his good run of form between the sticks for the Reds of late.

Mignolet, who endured a shaky start to the 2014/15 season and was dropped to the bench for three consecutive matches against Manchester United, Bournemouth and Arsenal in December, did well to make a strong comeback post his replacement Brad Jones' injury.

The Belgian has since been an ever-present entity between the sticks for the Reds, having managed a total of 17 clean sheets in the 47 matches he has played so far this season.

The 27-year-old though refuses to take all the credit himself and has thanked his defenders for holding the fort ahead of him, making life easier for him.

Mignolet is pleased with the defenders' efficiency while defending crosses coming into the box and set-pieces, which he believes has helped him improve his clean sheet record.

"Together with the team, since we changed the system at the turn of the year, we have been very solid at the back", Mignolet told his club's official website.

"We have defended really well and we have done our jobs brilliantly on set-pieces and crosses coming into the box.

"We have been a lot more solid defensively and obviously that is always nice for a goalkeeper.

"We have kept clean sheets all together as a team and we have to keep that going until the end of the season."
