Leeds United striker Steve Morison feels that head coach Neil Redfearn cuts an isolated and sad figure at Elland Road, having been deprived of his support structure.

Redfearn recently saw his assistant Steve Thompson suspended, with the head coach given no warning his long-time friend would be removed. The club's chief operating officer Matt Child has also left, another Redfearn ally.

Morison is full of praise for the 49-year-old, who he explained is doing things he has never in his career seen a manager do. And the striker, who scored Leeds' goal in their 2-1 loss to Charlton earlier today, feels sorry for Redfearn.

"You know what? He's been brilliant for us since he's come in and the job that he's does", he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"It's quite sad watching him out there every morning on his own, putting out balls and cones – I've never known a manager to do it.

"He seems to be doing a hell of a lot. Counting us onto the coach, giving us our cards when we get to the hotel.

"He's going above and beyond", Morison, who Redfearn has regularly trusted during his time in charge, added.

Redfearn was appointed head coach on a permanent basis earlier this season after stepping up from his role as the club's academy chief.

Despite steering the Whites out of relegation trouble in the Championship he has yet to be informed whether he will be in charge of the club next season.
