Reading defender Alex Pearce has insisted that they will have a game plan for Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final.

The Royals are going into today’s game as the underdogs against Arsene Wenger’s men as Arsenal are the better team and the form team of the English top flight.

Meanwhile, Reading are languishing in 18th in the Championship table and are without a win in the league since beating Brighton in March.

However, Pearce said that all that doesn’t matter as today is going to be a special occasion for everyone involved with the club as it will be only Reading’s second appearance in the FA Cup semi-final in their 144-year history and first since 1927.

“It’s going to be a very special day for everyone involved in the cub”, the defender told the club’s official website.

“For myself, personally, I’ve been at the club since I was 12 and it’s going to be an absolute honour to be involved in a day like that.”

Pearce admits that Arsenal are clearly the favourites to make it to the final but stressed that Reading will give them a proper game. Though they are the underdogs for the encounter, the defender insisted that they will have a plan to make Arsene Wenger’s men sweat at Wembley today.

“We’re just looking to go there, give a good account of ourselves and let Arsenal know that they’ve been in a game. Saturday will definitely be up there; right up there with the biggest matches I’ve played in.

“We know they’ve got top quality players but the manager will prepare us really well, we’ll go there with a game plan and hopefully we can carry it out.”
