Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants his side to quickly switch their attention back to the Premier League after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa at the semi-final stage.

Rodgers' men led at Wembley through a Philippe Coutinho strike, but goals from Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph turned the match on its head and sent Liverpool out of the FA Cup. Liverpool saw a Mario Balotelli goal wrongly disallowed, but were second best to Tim Sherwood's side.

Aston Villa will now meet Arsenal in the final at Wembley on 30th May and Rodgers has told Liverpool to focus on giving all they have got to try to finish in the top four in the Premier League.

He told BT Sport: "Now we have to strive for a top four Premier League finish.

"It is an obligation of this wonderful club to fight until the finish."

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League and seven points behind fourth placed Manchester City, the side it is most likely for them to overhaul.

However, Rodgers' side do have a game in hand on the Citizens and can move to within four points of their top four rivals with victory.

Next up for Liverpool is a visit to face West Brom next weekend, while Manchester City host Aston Villa.
