Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is eagerly looking forward to winning his first Premier League title of his career, having failed to lift the trophy while at Arsenal.

A narrow 1-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday took Chelsea one step closer to winning the league title and they are now potentially just eight points away from securing their goal.

Despite spending eight seasons at Arsenal, Fabregas has never won the Premier League title but a win over his former side next weekend will take Chelsea to the cusp of winning it.

The 27-year-old stressed that they need to put in one more impressive performance at the Emirates next Sunday to suck the life out of the title race and kill Arsenal’s hopes of winning the league.

He admits that an away game at Arsenal is always going to be a difficult proposition but admits that Jose Mourinho’s men are looking to put the title race to bed as soon as possible.

“It’s [a] massive [game]. We are level on games now, we are 10 points in front and we don’t want to give them hope to put pressure on us”, Fabregas told the club’s official website.

“We have to put in a good performance because we know the Emirates is always a difficult place to go.

“We just want to win it; the sooner, the better.”

Fabregas is eagerly looking forward to wearing his first Premier League winners’ medal of his career, having been unable to secure the crown with Arsenal, which would also end Chelsea’s five-year wait for a league title.

“We want to give satisfaction to the supporters. It’s been five years for them without winning the Premier League title; for me it’s been 27 years so I’d love to win it as soon as possible.”

Two back-to-back wins over Arsenal and Leicester in their next two fixtures will hand the Premier League title to Chelsea.
