Banned Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino expressed his surprise at Steve Morison scoring for the Whites in Saturday's defeat at Charlton Athletic.

Morison suffered a lengthy goal drought before the trip to the Valley, despite being given ample opportunity to end it by head coach Neil Redfearn, who handed him a run as the team's target man earlier this season.

But paired with Billy Sharp against the Addicks, Morison scored a first Leeds goal in 25 months, hitting an angled volley which sailed into the back of the net.

It was Morison's first goal for Leeds since a strike against Crystal Palace in March 2013.

And it shocked Cellino, who is currently serving a Football League ban which means he cannot run Leeds on a day to day basis. The Italian does though follow the Whites' fortunes closely.

Speaking to journalist Simon Austin during the match, Cellino expressed his surprise at Morison scoring, explaining: "Can you believe it!

"A goal from Morison, f****ng hell! [Laughs]"

Leeds fans at Charlton chanted for Cellino, who many feel has been destabilising influence on the club, to sell up, but the Italian businessman dismissed their calls for his head.

"I am used to it", he explained.

"I remember one game at Stadio San Paolo in Italy, when Cagliari [the club he used to own, Ed.] were playing Napoli.

"There were 60,000 fans spitting at me and chanting ‘Massimo Cellino motherf****r’.

"I have experienced it, it’s OK."

Cellino is hoping to head to Elland Road to watch Leeds' final game of the season, at home to Rotherham, but his Football League ban only expires the next day.

He has asked for permission to attend, though a group of fans are thought to be planning a demonstration against his ownership at the match.
