Paris Saint-Germain are not out of the race to sign Memphis Depay and are determined to go head-to-head with Manchester United despite suggestions a deal is all but done to take the winger to Old Trafford in the summer.

The French champions pushed for Depay last summer after he shone at the World Cup in Brazil. But the Dutchman wanted to remain with PSV for a further season in an attempt to help the Eindhoven-based side to win the Eredivisie, something they did at the weekend.

Now PSV have been informed by Depay's representatives that an initial meeting has been held with PSG over a potential move, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

PSG remain keen on signing Depay, although the transfer fee required and the wages needed by the player could pose a stumbling block.

However, PSG's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is ready to push the boat out to sign Depay, if he gives the French champions the signal that he wishes to sign.
