Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that his side’s Champions League clash against FC Porto tonight will not be easy, but he is optimistic about his team triumphing over their Portuguese rivals.

The Bavarian giants were taken apart 3-1 in the first leg at the Estadio do Dragao last week, a result that has left the Germans with a mountain to climb in tonight’s reverse fixture.

The reigning German champions have faced strife off the pitch as well with their long-serving team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt resigning last week after a reported tussle with Guardiola.

The Catalan has acknowledged that overhauling Porto’s advantage will take some doing for his men.

“The game is a big challenge, but when you're coach of a club like Bayern every day is a challenge”, he was quoted as saying by UEFA.

“During the last few weeks, which have not been easy for us, I have learned a lot about my work.”

The two-time Champions League winning manager further added that his team will need to play more aggressively and take more risks as they attempt to overhaul Porto’s lead from the first leg.

“Tomorrow we have to take more risks.

“That is normal after the game in Porto."

However, Guardiola added that he is optimistic that his side will book their place in the semi-finals.

“I am optimistic and realistic.

“After a 3-1 loss in Porto, it will not be easy at all, but I am optimistic we will go through to the semi-finals.”
