Celtic manager Ronny Deila is expecting a tough encounter against Dundee United when the two sides go head-to-head this Sunday.

Deila’s men are sitting atop the Premiership and having taken a commanding eight-point lead over their nearest rivals Aberdeen, they appear strong favourites to win their fourth successive league title.

Dundee United, on the other hand, have endured a difficult run of form of late – they have lost seven of their last nine league fixtures as they occupy fourth spot in the table.

The Hoops acquired two of the Terrors’ star performers in Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong in the winter transfer window. And the Norwegian has said that he has great respect for Jackie McNamara’s side for their performances, despite losing two of their regular starters.

“I have a lot of respect for Dundee United”, Deila told his club’s site.

“They have had a good season but it was tough for them after they lost two players when we got Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong, but it’s going to be a tough game on Sunday.”

The two sides played each other in the League Cup as well as the Scottish Cup and both ties proved to be fractious affairs with multiple sending offs. And the 39-year-old hopes that neither side lose players due to disciplinary reasons this time around.

“I expect it’ll be a high intensity game but hopefully without any red cards and we can play 11 v 11 as that’s the most fun thing to do and that’s what we’re aiming for.”
