Manchester United target Mats Hummels has refused to add more fuel to the speculation surrounding his future at Borussia Dortmund.

The Dortmund captain has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and is considered Louis van Gaal’s top defensive target for the summer.

It was claimed earlier this week that the Red Devils have lodged a bid for the player but Dortmund have asked them to up their offer, a claim that the club refused to confirm yesterday.

While Dortmund are working furiously behind the scenes to convince their captain to stay at the club, they do realise that they are fighting against the odds to keep him away from the grasp of Manchester United.

Hummels has previously admitted that he is considering his future at the Westfalenstadion but is not ready to add more leverage to the transfer saga.

When asked about his future, Hummels told Bild: “I have no desire to constantly state my view on this matter.

“I have done it a few weeks ago – that should be enough.”

Outgoing Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has also previously stated that the defender is thinking about his future at the club and said that he is good enough to play for Manchester United.
