Stefan Johansen has handed Celtic a boost by insisting that he has no plans to leave the club and feels he can continue to progress as a player at Paradise.

The Norwegian, who Celtic scooped up in the winter transfer window of 2014, has been nominated for the PFA Scotland Premiership Player of the Year award, in recognition of his fine performances for the Hoops.

Johansen has been played in a more attacking role by Celtic manager Ronny Deila, while he recently handed him the captain's armband in the absence of Scott Brown.

The midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs, but claims he is happy to remain at Celtic.

Johansen was quoted as saying by the BBC: "Right now I'm happy at Celtic.

"I feel like I'm becoming a better player every day. I don't see any reason why I should move."

And Johansen is full of warm words for Deila, under whom he played at his former club Stromsgodset.

"Ronny was the guy who took me to Stromsgodset and helped me a lot with the things I needed to work on.

"He's been the most important figure in my career. He has helped me get to where I am today."

Deila, who is keen to keep Johansen, will no doubt be delighted by his countryman's words.
