Charlie Taylor feels Leeds United can be pleased at themselves for having pulled away from the relegation zone in the Championship in the second half of the campaign.

Following the sacking of two head coaches, David Hockaday and Darko Milanic, and initial inconsistency under Neil Redfearn when he took charge, the Whites looked set for a fight against the drop.

But they rallied under Redfearn and at one point in 2015 were one of the form teams in the Championship, clawing themselves up into mid-table security.

Leeds ended a run of five consecutive defeats on Saturday by beating Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 and Taylor feels the side should feel pleased with how they turned things around.

"At Christmas time we were staring at a potential relegation fight and to come away from that like we have done is excellent really", he told LUTV.

Now Taylor is looking for Leeds to end the season on a high when they lock horns with Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United at Elland Road in their final game of the campaign next weekend.

Following a points deduction, Rotherham may need to get something out of the match to survive in the Championship.

And Taylor feels that adds extra spice to the derby.

"There could be a lot riding on it now, what with the three point deduction they got.

"It's a Yorkshire derby and has something added to it with them potentially going down."

Leeds have one further game to play this season when they host Rotherham United in another Yorkshire derby in the Championship at Elland Road next weekend.
