Former France goalkeeper Jean-Paul Bertrand-Demanes believes that Tottenham Hotspur custodian Hugo Lloris lacks presence when compared with other top custodians.

Lloris has been in good form for Spurs this season, earning links with a number of other clubs in the process, and the goalkeeper is widely viewed as one of the top custodians in the Premier League.

But Bertrand-Demanes is not a member of the Lloris fan club and in comparing him to other top goalkeepers, feels that the Spurs man comes up short.

"I loved [Iker] Casillas, but it seems he's got worse", the former Nantes goalkeeper told L'Equipe.

[Thibaut] Courtois makes a very big impression on me. To take the place of [Petr] Cech, one must be strong", he continued, before switching his attention to ex-France custodian Fabian Barthez and Lloris.

"Barthez was outstanding, while Lloris is not.

"He is very good, but he lacks presence.

"If you put Lloris and [Manuel] Neuer in two different goals, you would prefer to shoot at Lloris' one."

Bertrand-Demanes turned out for Nantes for his entire career, making 650 appearances between 1969 and 1987.

At international level he clocked up eleven caps for France, featuring at the 1978 World Cup for Les Bleus.

Lloris meanwhile has won 65 caps for France since he made his senior international debut in 2008.
