Ahead of tonight’s clash against Hull City, Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has said that the Reds are wary of the threat posed by Steve Bruce’s men who are fighting for Premier League survival.

Liverpool have garnered four points from their last four Premier League games, a run that has included successive losses to Manchester United and Arsenal, and a scoreless draw against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

The Reds’ recent run of results sees them occupying fifth spot in the table and they are seven points adrift of Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils. With only five rounds of matches to go before the season comes to a close, it appears increasingly unlikely that the Merseyside giants will finish among the top four.

However, Skrtel is not willing to throw in the towel yet, saying that if Liverpool can achieve the desired results in their remaining games then Champions League qualification cannot be ruled out.

"We have five more games to play and we are ready to fight for every single point”, he told his official website.

"We play against Hull City and we need to win this game in order to keep our chances of reaching Champions League alive.

"It will not be easy because they are trying to avoid relegation and we must win this game.

“But I think we have the quality and we are ready to show it on the pitch."
