Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged respect between managers following Jose Mourinho's comments over the Gunners' lengthy title drought.

Mourinho's Chelsea side suffered "boring" chants during last weekend's 0-0 draw away at Arsenal, a continuation of the Blues playing a disciplined style of football.

The draw came hot on the heels of Chelsea beating Manchester United 1-0 at home with just 30 per cent possession in the game.

Mourinho, in response, hit out at the boring jibes and suggested that for Arsenal fans, waiting for a first Premier League title since 2004 is boring.

Today Wenger has sought to defuse the situation and simply urged managers to treat each other with respect.

The Arsenal manager was quoted as saying at a press conference by ITV: "Look, everybody lives with his own internal problems and I live with mine. That's enough.

"You can have incidents with other managers sometimes.

"It gets a bit heated when you fight directly with them, but in the end I believe time heals and the important thing is to respect each other as much as you can."

Chelsea are now on the brink of winning the Premier League title following a 3-1 win away at Leicester City in midweek.

Arsenal however could still end the campaign with silverware due to being in the final of the FA Cup.
