Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that forward Cristiano Ronaldo has scored so many goals because of his character and his sheer desire to improve.

Ronaldo left the pitch shaking his head in disappointment after he failed to score for his second consecutive match even though Real Madrid defeated Almeria 3-0 earlier this week.

The reigning European champions are currently sitting second in the table and are two points shy of table toppers Barcelona with four rounds of games remaining in the league this term.

Ancelotti’s side are preparing to face Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium tomorrow. The Italian was asked if Ronaldo’s obsession with goalscoring is good for him and replied that it has served him well so far.

“He's scored all those goals because he has character”, Ancelotti was quoted as saying by AS.

“Cristiano is never happy with how he's doing, he always wants to improve and that's why he scores so many goals."

Ronaldo has not been immune to criticism from the Santiago Bernabeu faithful and when Ancelotti was asked if the Real Madrid fans were right in whistling the Portuguese, the Italian said that a lack of respect for Ronaldo from Los Blancos’ supporters surprises him.

“I don't understand how the Bernabeu can whistle Cristiano.”
