Nani has admitted he is unlikely to remain at Sporting Lisbon beyond the end of the season as he has his eyes set on higher planes.

The winger is on a season-long loan at the Portuguese giants from Manchester United and has turned in a series of impressive performances back in his homeland.

Nani has featured in 34 games for Sporting Lisbon so far this season, scoring eleven goals and providing eight assists.

Sporting Lisbon are thought to be keen on keeping hold of the 28-year-old if at all possible, but Nani wants to strut his stuff at a higher level.

"I'm fine here, but I have greater ambitions", he was quoted as saying at a promotional event by French outlet Top Mercato.

Nani was declared surplus to requirements by Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal last summer and allowed to head to Sporting Lisbon.

It remains to be seen whether the Dutchman will have reappraised where Nani might fit into his team for next season or whether the Portugal international heads elsewhere.

His contract with Manchester United runs until 2018.
