Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes the Bernabeu crowd will play a big role in helping them overcome Juventus in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

Goals from former Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata and Carlos Tevez helped the Italian champions to register a narrow 2-1 win over the defending European champions last night in Turin.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s 27th minute strike could yet prove crucial in the larger scheme of things but Juventus will travel to the Spanish capital next week with their noses ahead in the tie.

Ancelotti stressed that his side started the night brightly and they need to replicate the same performance at the Bernabeu next week.

He also noted that Juventus are in a good run of form and are a different team to the side they faced in the group stages of the Champions League last season.

“We played really well at times and created some good chances after the first 15 minutes”, Ancelotti told UEFA.

“We've got to do the same again in the return leg.

“Juve are in a rich vein of form, they've got a great spirit and it's different from last year in the group stage against them. This is a knockout tie, a semi-final.”

Though Juventus are ahead in the tie, the Real Madrid boss is confident that home support next week could prove crucial in the second leg.

“The crowd can help us at home. It will be a situation like we had last year in the semi-finals and like this season in the quarter-finals. We're confident because we're at home.

“The fans will help us.”
