Celtic midfielder Kris Commons feels that the Hoops’ Premiership triumph gives them a chance to relax and play more attractive football in their remaining three league matches.

Ronny Deila’s side were crowned champions after their 5-0 defeat of Dundee on Friday night was followed by a 1-0 defeat of second placed Aberdeen at the hands of Dundee United on Saturday – a sequence of events that made Celtic’s 11-point lead unassailable with three matches to go.

Having collected the League Cup trophy in March following their 2-0 defeat of Dundee United, Celtic will finish the season with a domestic double.

And Commons, who has contributed 14 goals and ten assists to the Bhoys’ cause this season, feels that his team’s early wrapping up of the title gives them a great opportunity to play more attractive football.

“It gives us a chance to try and relax and play a little bit more attractive football”, he told Celtic View.

“We don’t have to concentrate too much on the winning side of things and try to express ourselves and no doubt give some of the younger players a bit of a run out.

“Maybe the manager will rest a few boys thinking about pre-season but from a personal point of view I want to try and get more goals, play every game, win every game and try to finish the season on as high a note as possible.”

Celtic are due to play Aberdeen in their next league fixture at Pittodrie this weekend.
