Bayern Munich are set to offload midfielder Xabi Alonso and defender Dante in the summer to free up space for new recruits.

Though the Bavarians won their third league title in a row this season, their disappointing exit from the Champions League in the semi-final stage at Barcelona’s hands have been a jolt for the club.

Dominating domestic football is believed to be not enough anymore for Bayern Munich and the club hierarchy want Pep Guardiola’s side to dominate in Europe too.

Bayern Munich are set to carry out an overhaul in their playing squad this summer and according to Tuttosport, Alonso and Dante are set to be ones who will be sold to make way for fresh blood.

Alonso joined the club last summer from Real Madrid and has played a major role in Bayern Munich’s league triumph but Guardiola feels it is time to find a younger replacement for the 33-year-old Spaniard.

Dante is also on the wrong side of 30 and the club are looking for a younger face in place of the Brazilian international defender this summer.

While it is unclear how much they hope to earn from selling the duo, Bayern Munich are known to be determined to add fresh faces to the squad in the transfer window and believe Alonso and Dante need to make way for the new recruits.
