Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has requested information on Tottenham Hotspur-linked Torino defender Kamil Glik.

The Polish international’s assured performances at the back in Turin this summer have attracted the attention of some of the top clubs in Europe.

Tottenham have been keeping a close watch on the 27-year-old defender, who has scored eight goals from the back this season, and are keen to take him to White Hart Lane this summer.

However, Spurs are now set to face stiff competition from English giants Manchester United as it has been claimed that they have a strong interest in acquiring the Torino captain’s services for next season.

Van Gaal is in the market for experienced defenders and according to Tuttosport, the Dutchman has sought information about the 27-year-old’s availability this summer.

Glik has himself said that his style of play would suit the Premier League, indicating that he is up for a move to England in the future.

However, he signed a new contract with Torino only last year and the club are expected to ask for top dollar if any of his suitors make a concrete move for their captain in the summer.

Glik has been a near constant feature in the Torino backline this season and has clocked up 41 appearances in all competitions for the club.
