Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits he may well look to bring Steven Gerrard back to the club on loan at some point, although he has not discussed the situation with the midfielder yet.

Gerrard is leaving his boyhood club in the summer when his contract expires and heading for the United States to link up with MLS giants Los Angeles Galaxy.

The legendary midfielder will draw the curtains on his Anfield career tomorrow against Crystal Palace, before pulling on a Reds shirt one more time away at Stoke City to round off the season.

But Rodgers has dangled the carrot of Gerrard playing for Liverpool once again, especially as players in the MLS often head abroad on loan deals at the start of the year to build up their fitness ahead of the league's kick-off.

"We haven't really spoken about it", Rodgers said at a press conference when asked about a potential loan deal for Gerrard.

"It's just something we'll see how it pans out really.

"Steven has made it clear in his talks that he will always look to help the club and if he feels that is from a playing perspective that is something we can look at another time.

"The loan is something that may be possible further down the line."

A number of present and former MLS players have enjoyed brief loan stints in the Premier League in mid-season, a group that includes Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and Thierry Henry.

Gerrard has penned an 18-month deal with Los Angeles Galaxy and will link up with former Liverpool striker Keane in California.
