Real Sociedad coach David Moyes insists that Liverpool have not made contact with his club over signing defender Inigo Martinez and hinted they would be wasting their time by doing so.

Liverpool are thought to be interested in the 24-year-old, who is a product of Real Sociedad's youth system, and have been credited with lodging a bid for the Spaniard.

But Moyes is in no mood to sell one of his star performers and has blasted talk that Liverpool have slapped an official bid on the table for the defender.

The former Manchester United manager told Spanish daily Marca: "Do you think I would want to sell him to Liverpool?

"We have not had any contact, it's speculation", Moyes added.
