Ajax have entered the race for Willem II left-back Mitchell Dijks and are determined to stop the 22-year-old joining Feyenoord.

Dijks, a product of Ajax's youth system, has attracted interest from Celtic, AZ Alkmaar and Hertha Berlin. Feyenoord also want to sign the left-back and are pushing hard to get a deal done.

The prospect of Dijks joining rivals Feyenoord has alarmed Ajax, who have now officially been in touch with Willem II to register their interest in their former player, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

Ajax also negotiated a 50 per cent sell on clause when they allowed Dijks to join Willem II, something they feel should give them an advantage in the race for the left-back.

Dijks has stunned Ajax with the speed at which he has developed away from the Amsterdam ArenA and now Frank de Boer's men want him back.

Ajax though do not just face opposition from Feyenoord, with several other sides tracking Dijks, not least Scottish champions Celtic.

Celtic would be able to offer Dijks Champions League football if he moves to Glasgow in the summer, while the Bhoys are no strangers to the Dutch market.
