Feyenoord are stepping up on their interest in Willem II left-back Mitchell Dijks, who is also being chased by Celtic.

Dijks has impressed with his performances in the Eredivisie this term and Feyenoord are one of a number of clubs keen on snapping up the 22-year-old.

Scottish champions Celtic are also in the race, but face fierce opposition for the Netherlands Under-21 international.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Feyenoord have decided to accelerate their interest in Dijks after being convinced he is the right man to fill their left-back spot.

Willem II are thought to have quoted around €1.3m for Dijks, a sum which Feyenoord are ready to pay to take him to De Kuip.

Dijks was developed in the youth ranks at Feyenoord's arch rivals Ajax, but the Rotterdam side have dismissed that as a concern and are pushing ahead with their interest in the defender.

The left-back also has interest from AZ Alkmaar and Hertha Berlin.
